U.S. Green Building Council - Leed Certified

Schimenti recently completed a 94,420 square foot, LEED certified store in Northborough, MA. Ground up construction included pre-cast panel exterior walls, slab on grade and a TPO roofing system over a metal roof deck.

Exterior work consists of concrete sidewalks with recessed planter beds including irrigation and a concrete loading dock pad. All exposed exterior panels received an epoxy based color coating to conform with Kohl’s Department Stores’ 2011 prototypical color scheme. Kohl’s store entry features consisting of EIFS (Exterior Insulation Finish System), aluminum storefront, a vestibule, glass and a decorative steel eyebrow.

Interior features of the store include a combination of ceramic tile flooring, carpeting, resilient flooring, acoustical ceiling throughout and a polished concrete floor finish. SCC also installed owner supplied focal features at perimeter walls.

Ranked #1 in retail for green power purchases and #2 overall in the US by the EPA; long-term sustainability is a key decision-driver in Kohl’s construction.
