Starbucks opened the doors to their highly anticipated and newly renovated flagship store in Times Square, New York, on September 16th. Built by Schimenti Construction, in a fast paced 15 week schedule, it is the eighth New York City Starbucks to be LEED certified. Located at 47th and Broadway, in the heart of Times Square, you can find a high-tech, futuristic coffee experience with all the amenities and spirit of being positioned in the Theater District.
Upon entering the store, you are greeted with Starbucks’ newly redesigned logo in celebration of their 40th year anniversary. You will quickly get the sense of being backstage at a Broadway show through the use of multi-layered images as set backdrops and the marquee style coffee sign, purchased from an antique store a few blocks south in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York.
Schimenti Construction Company announces the promotions of Joseph R. Schimenti and John J. Colonnese to Project Executive.
In the role of Project Executive, Joseph and John will provide direct leadership to project management staff, perform high level project management tasks, endorse superior client advocacy and be accountable for understanding the owner/client’s business objectives and ensure the organization’s solutions meet or exceed the client/owner’s needs.
Schimenti Construction is working with the outdoor apparel and equipment company, Recreational Equipment, Inc., better known as REI, to renovate a 39,000 square foot grand triplex space at the historic Puck building at 295 Lafayette Street, for their new Manhattan store. Billboards throughout New York are being used to build awareness prior to the December opening.
Built in 1885 and then added to in 1892, the Romanesque revival building was the home and printing plant for now-defunct Puck humor magazine, and its two iconic gold mischievous cherubs still adorn the building.
